Frequently asked questions

What type of longarm service do you do?

All of my longarm quilting is done edge-to-edge using a computerized design that repeats across your quilt from one side to the other. Because of this method, the batting cannot be rolled up for binding.

How much does it cost?

My quilting services are $0.023 per square inch (thread included).

For example, a 60" x 70" quilt would be $96.60.

Minimum fee of $50.

These prices reflect simple patterns. Denser patterns may cost more, this will be discussed upfront.

How should I prepare my quilt for longarming?

For the best outcome, we recommend the following:

  • Backing and batting must be 4" larger on all sides (8" total).
  • Loose threads should be trimmed, since they can sometimes show through on the finished quilt.
  • Quilt top must be squared up.
Is there a limit of the size of my quilt?

I quilt on an APQS Millie 30 with a 14-foot frame, which gives me plenty of space to handle quilts of any size, even the biggest ones!

Do I need to piece my backing or will you?

You’re welcome to piece your own backing, but if you’d prefer, I’d be happy to do it for you. The cost is $15 per seam.

Will you iron my backing?

If you’d like me to iron your backing, I can do that for you for $10.

Will you bind my quilt after you longarm it?

At this time I am not offering binding services. When you get your quilt back, all you'll have left to do is the binding.

Do you have batting or do I need to supply it?

Yes! I carry Quilter’s Dream batting and love working with it. They offer several options, and I’d be happy to help you choose the best one for your project.

You’re also welcome to provide your own batting, and if you’re unsure what to buy, I can give you recommendations.

How do I get my quilt to you?

You can get your quilt to me in one of two ways:

  1. Drop-off: If you’re local to Wayland, MI, you can drop it off by appointment. We’ll schedule a convenient time for you.
  2. Mail: If you’re not local, you can mail your quilt. Please take care to protect it from damage or moisture during transit. Return shipping costs will be your responsibility.
Will you pick my thread color and design for me?

We want you to be excited and happy about your finished quilt that you've worked so hard on, so we want you to make all the important decisions!

Because of this, we want you to decide the thread color and quilting design

Do you have a loyalty program?

Yes! We do have a loyalty program!

After we quilt 5 of your quilts, you’ll receive 20% off your 6th quilt.
